The new Alfa Spider VS C7 Vette, now here me out on this.
We all know the Corvette is just essentially two V6 Mustangs, meaning its by far the best bang for your buck around 50k. We also all know that buying a car slightly used is a great way to save a few pennies. Let some fool break the car in and take the deprecation hit for you.
I am completely assuming because Miata's are priced $25-30k that the Alfa/Fiat version will be $35-45k. Which I'm also assuming will be right along the price of a used C7 when they eventually hit showrooms in a year or so.
So lets assume you'll have $40k burning a whole in your pants. What will it be Oppo, a new sexy Italian?
Or a lightly abused powerful American?
EDIT: Another US victory.

Smart money goes to the Vette. That's a seriously great car for not a lot of coin

Considering the odds of the Alfa actually looking like that, and probably being powered by a turbo 4, I'd rather have the loud, good looking, reliable V8 American.

C7 for me. GM problems and all. No question. Alfa has tons of style and probably the go-kart fun aspect but the C7 is nasty.

Considering the fact that it's already been confirmed there will be no Alfa Miata; that it will be most likely a Fiat instead - AND the fact that a Miata style roadster does not in any universe actually compete with the Corvette - I go with the C7 Corvette without even a nanosecond of having to think it over.

Well if i knew nothing about the new vette i'll go for the Alfa but after seeing what the C7 is capable of even in the base form with Z51 it's vette all the way. The sound of that V8 will terrorize my streets……at least until i get the Z06

It really is hard to argue against the C7, on any terms.

Has to be Alfa, seeing as any GM product right now wants to kill you. Then again the Alfa is Italian,

And being an Alfa, it probably would never see our shores, because we never get anything good from Europe.

C7 Faster than you can say "Barry Goldberg." Even if the Alfa wound up looking like that.

I thought it was all still rumor-mill quotes on the 'no Alfa, but probably a Fiat'.
My only gripe with the Vette is that when I went out friday night, I saw 5 in an hour … already.

I believe the "no Alfa" part is confirmed, but unknown who will take up the mantle as the replacement.
I think. Either way, I'd still pick the 'Vette. It's not even a contest.

Sorry, but they're only Fiat dealers with one little area for the 4C.
Plus, that car will never look as good as this.

The Vette is a great car. Great performance, especially for the price, and the results in racing for both amateurs and pros are truly impressive. But I'll take the Alfa. I just don't personally like the Corvette. I never have. I'm glad they exist, and I'm very happy that other people own and enjoy them, and I like seeing them at track days and on group drives, and shows, and I admire their history. I just don't want one.

Looks are always debatable and I only "like" the Vette. In any light color all the black tacked on parts looky tacky IMO. Where as just about every Alfa is sex, and waaayyy less common.

Agreed, I respect them by all means, but don't think they're for me. Not to mention I'm a bit of a car hipster and I already see too many of them.

I didn't know that base model black bumpers where in style again?
Mattbob

Thats not really a bumper. It's more of a diffuser IMO. I personally think the new corvette does look really good. Looking at it from one angle in a picture really doesn't do it justice.

I really like its front clip and body side. Hate the stupid roof paint, the floating roof pillar with that stupid bar that run across it. Looks turrible IMO.
Either way you get it.
Sorry, went on a mini rant. But you can call it a diffuser if you want, I know a giant piece of black plastic when I see one.

Definitely the Alfa. The 'vette's far too fast to enjoy on the street, and I won't look like I'm trying too hard in the Alfa.

The Miata is sharing it's platform with a Fiat is the rumor now and the Alfa Spider will move further upmarket. More like a Z4.

Over the years I ended up as a GM guy. Mostly Chevy, Pontiac, and Buick. That's not to say I don't appreciate other car makes or think that the fall of humanity started when they cut the compression ratio on the 1971 LS-6. But that's where I happened to end up.
That said, I LOATHE the tail panel and taillight configuration of the C7 vette. The performance, front end view, and side view are what draw me to the car. The rear is absolutely deplorable to me. If I end up selling my other toy and picking up a C7 in a few years I would first set out to get rid of the "Jersey bar skank with too much eye makeup" taillights.

The Alfa apparently going to be a different chassis. All this is still just speculation though.
